Service Requirements

Reminder: Not every dog is the right fit for every doggy daycare, please keep in mind that the Paws Play team only wants the doggos to be in a safe and playful environment!

To join Paws Play Doggy Daycare, dogs must meet several requirements:

  1. Age and Breed: Dogs must be at least 6 months old. Currently, Paws Play is not accepting new bully breeds or working breeds.

  2. Vaccinations: All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations.

  3. Spaying/Neutering: Dogs must be spayed or neutered.

  4. Behavior: Dogs must be well-socialized, crate trained, and able to handle brief periods of separation without significant anxiety. Destructive or disruptive behavior is not permitted.

  5. Consultation and Trial Day: New clients must undergo a phone consultation and a trial day/night to ensure compatibility with the daycare and boarding environment.

  6. Documentation: A service agreement and medical waiver must be signed prior to trial day/night.

  7. Home Boarding Specifics: For home boarding, dogs must respect the fence around the play yard and not be escape artists.

🐾 What We Look for During a Trial Day

Every new pup at Paws Play begins with a trial day so we can get to know them—and help them get to know us.

When your dog arrives, we give them time to explore the space and settle in. We don’t rush greetings. First, we help them get comfortable with us (the hoomans!), and then we slowly begin dog introductions—starting with our calmest pack members and working up to the more energetic personalities.

We’re looking for:

  • A loose, happy body language around new dogs (a little nervousness is totally normal!)

  • Respect for space and boundaries—both ours and other dogs’

  • A willingness to engage, take redirection, and recall when called

  • Ability to relax during downtime, both crated and free-roaming

One of the most important parts of a trial day is the settle test. We need to see that your dog can calm down after play and rest quietly during breaks. Whether they’re staying for the day or overnight, the ability to decompress is key to a safe and successful experience.

That said, they don’t need to be perfect! We love a good work-in-progress—as long as your pup has the basics in place, we’re happy to help guide them the rest of the way.
